Annature Alternative: A Cheaper Per-Session Option for Australian Businesses

October 20267 min read

Annature is a solid Australian e-signature tool, but paying per envelope adds up once you send more than a handful of documents a month. Here is how its pricing compares with AirSign's monthly plans, and when each one is the better fit.

Why people look for an Annature alternative

Annature is Australian-made and is often picked as a local alternative to DocuSign. It is a good product, and if it is working for you there may be no reason to move. Most people who start looking elsewhere are not unhappy with the signing experience - they are watching the bill.

Annature charges per envelope. That is great when you send a few documents a month, but the cost grows in a straight line with volume. If your business sends contracts, onboarding packs or client agreements every week, a monthly plan with included sessions can work out much cheaper. The rest of this post lays out both pricing models side by side, using only the prices each company publishes.

How Annature pricing works

At the time of writing (October 2026), the Annature pricing page lists:

  • $1.75 per envelope, with unlimited recipients, documents and users
  • SMS at $0.12 per message on top
  • ID verification at $9.60 per check, plus $4.30 for AML screening
  • Enterprise pricing by quote

Prices change, so check their page for the current figures and GST treatment before you compare.

How AirSign pricing works

AirSign uses monthly plans that include a set number of signing sessions, with a lower per-session rate once you go over. A session is the same idea as an envelope: one signing request that can hold multiple PDF documents and multiple recipients. Sending a contract and an NDA to three signers together counts as one session.

Free - $0

3 sessions a month, 1 user, 2 templates. No credit card required.

Starter - $5/month

10 sessions a month, then $1 each. 1 user, unlimited templates, PDF editor and API access.

Business - $29/month

80 sessions a month, then $0.50 each. 5 users, unlimited templates, PDF editor and API access.

Enterprise - by quote

Custom volumes and users, plus SMS signing notifications, single sign-on and the AirSign sub-apps.

There are no lock-in contracts, and you are never blocked from sending - extra sessions are billed at your plan's rate. Full details are on the pricing page.

Side-by-side cost at 10, 40 and 80 documents a month

This is simple arithmetic from the published prices above: Annature's $1.75 per envelope against the cheapest AirSign plan that covers each volume. It assumes one document request per envelope or session and leaves out add-ons like SMS and ID checks.

Documents sentAnnature (per envelope)AirSign (monthly plan)
10 a month$17.50$5 (Starter)
40 a month$70.00$29 (Business)
80 a month$140.00$29 (Business)

At 40 a month, Starter would cost $5 plus 30 extra sessions at $1 ($35), so Business at $29 is the cheaper AirSign option. At 80 a month, Business covers every session in the plan price.

One difference to weigh: Annature does not charge per user, while AirSign Business includes 5 users. If you have a large team that each sends only a few documents, factor that in.

Where Annature is the better fit

Being honest about this saves everyone time. Annature may suit you better if:

  • You need KYC and AML checks built in. Annature offers AML screening alongside ID verification, which matters for AUSTRAC-regulated businesses.
  • You collect payments on envelopes. Annature lets you take payment as part of the signing flow.
  • You have many users who each send rarely. Unlimited users with no per-seat cost can win at low volume.

If those are what you rely on, it is probably worth staying. If your main concern is the monthly cost of sending a steady flow of documents, read on.

What AirSign adds

  • Australian data storage on all plans. Documents are stored in Australian data centres, including on the Free plan.
  • E-witnessing. Add a witness who signs in person on the same device or remotely via an email link. See how e-witnessing works.
  • Reusable templates with variables. Fill in names, dates and amounts each time you send. Free includes 2 templates, paid plans are unlimited.
  • Automatic reminders. Set a deadline and AirSign emails whoever has not signed yet. Available on paid plans and during your free trial.
  • PDF editor. Edit documents before you send them, on Starter and above.
  • Identity verification. Signers can confirm who they are with a government-issued photo ID and a live selfie match before signing.
  • Business sub-apps (Enterprise only). Staff, training, compliance, CRM and invoicing, scheduling, timesheets and more, all connected to your signing. See the AirSign products.

Switching over

Moving across does not need a big project. Start on the Free plan, upload the PDFs you send most often, add your signature and form fields, and save them as templates. Our guide to creating your first template walks through it step by step.

Send a few real sessions, check the signed PDFs and audit trail, then pick a plan once you know your monthly volume. If you are also weighing up other tools, see our roundup of e-signature software in Australia and our DocuSign alternative comparison.

Common questions

Is AirSign legally binding in Australia?

Electronic signatures are generally recognised under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and the matching state and territory Acts, provided the signer is identified, the method is reliable and everyone consents to signing electronically. Some documents, such as certain deeds, wills and witnessed documents, have extra rules that vary by state. Every AirSign session includes a full audit trail and certificate of completion.

This is general information, not legal advice. Check with a lawyer if you are unsure whether a particular document can be signed electronically.

Can I try it free?

Yes. The Free plan includes 3 signing sessions a month, forever, with no credit card required.
